Carbomer Eye Gel

₦21,000 ₦22,500

Description:

Carbomer Eye Gel (often branded as Viscotears, Vidisic, or Liposic) is a high-viscosity liquid gel designed to provide prolonged relief for dry, irritated eyes. Unlike standard watery eye drops that drain away quickly, Carbomer creates a protective, transparent film over the surface of the eye. This film mimics the natural tear film, preventing moisture evaporation and providing a "cushioning" effect that lasts significantly longer than traditional artificial tears.

CARBOMER EYE GEL — ADVANCED LONG-LASTING OCULAR LUBRICANT

Carbomer Eye Gel (often branded as Viscotears, Vidisic, or Liposic) is a high-viscosity liquid gel designed to provide prolonged relief for dry, irritated eyes. Unlike standard watery eye drops that drain away quickly, Carbomer creates a protective, transparent film over the surface of the eye. This film mimics the natural tear film, preventing moisture evaporation and providing a "cushioning" effect that lasts significantly longer than traditional artificial tears.

What Is Carbomer Eye Gel Used For?

Carbomer Eye Gel is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of Dry Eye Syndrome (Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca). It is particularly effective for:

  1. Severe Dryness: Providing relief when standard drops are insufficient.

  2. Nighttime Protection: Preventing the eyes from "drying out" during sleep, which often causes painful "sticky" eyes in the morning.

  3. Environmental Stress: Soothing irritation caused by air conditioning, wind, smoke, or prolonged computer use (Digital Eye Strain).

  4. Post-Surgical Comfort: Often recommended by surgeons to keep the cornea lubricated during the healing phase after LASIK or cataract surgery.

⚠️ Important Usage Warning

Temporary Blurred Vision: Because this is a thick gel, your vision will be blurred for 1 to 5 minutes immediately after application. Do not drive, operate machinery, or perform tasks requiring sharp focus until your vision clears. Contact Lenses: Do not wear soft contact lenses while using this gel. The preservative (often Cetrimide) can be absorbed by the lenses. Remove lenses before use and wait at least 30 minutes before reinserting them, or use only at night after lenses are removed. Wait Between Meds: If you are using other eye drops, apply the drops first, wait 15 minutes, and apply the Carbomer Gel last.

How to Use

The standard dose is one drop (a small "ribbon" of gel) in the affected eye(s) 3 to 4 times daily, or once before bedtime.

Application Technique:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.

  2. Tilt your head back and pull down the lower lid to form a small pocket.

  3. Hold the tube vertically and squeeze a tiny amount of gel (about 1cm) into the pocket.

  4. Do not touch the tube tip to your eye, eyelashes, or any surface.

  5. Blink several times to spread the gel across the eye surface.

Common Side Effects

The most common side effect is transient blurred vision. Some users may experience a mild, temporary stinging sensation or "sticky" eyelids. If you develop severe eye pain, persistent redness, or a skin rash around the eyelids, stop use and consult our pharmacist or an eye specialist.

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Keep the tube tightly capped. Crucial Safety Rule: Discard the tube 28 days after opening, even if there is gel remaining, to avoid bacterial contamination of the sterile contents.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Can I use this with my glaucoma drops?

A: Yes, but always use the Carbomer Gel last. It creates a barrier that can prevent other medicated drops from reaching the eye if applied first.

Q: Is it better than normal "Clear Eyes"?

A: They serve different purposes. Clear Eyes removes redness by shrinking blood vessels. Carbomer Gel actually adds moisture and heals the surface of a dry, scratchy eye.

Q: Can I use it during the day?

A: Yes, but many people prefer using it only at night because the temporary blurring can be inconvenient during work or driving.

Q: Is it safe for "Apollo" (Pink Eye)?

A: It won't cure the infection, but it can provide immense comfort by soothing the "gritty" feeling often associated with viral conjunctivitis.
